Living Free in a Monetary World

Financial hardship presents challenges that can crush the ego of a man. This can be negative or it can be positive. The attachment to material is without a doubt the primary cause of suffering in this world. The din of the media creates an acceptance of this as the way to live without even the possibility of an other way. It is called the American Dream but it can easily be seen as a nightmare when financial challenges become part of the landscape. If man can withstand the crush of the ego, the other side is really the point of freedom. When the other side is reached, the way that has been hummed into our awareness, from the beginning, is exposed as the illusion that it is. There are many reasons to wake up to the truth. The largest of which is peace.

Free Lunch

How often does a free lunch come around? Most of the time we don't even realize when a free lunch comes around or when we are having one. You see a free lunch doesn't always consist of food. It can be any shared energy that is part of a gathering when there is a benefit received. Use your benefits wisely as we never know where the next free lunch may come from.

Christmas - A time for now.

As the media bombards us with what is "rightfully ours", we soak up the din of the gross material world. Is what we encounter with the senses real or do our perceptions deceive us? How do we deal with desire when the seed is planted from without?
Waking from an unconscious existence is only a breath away. Choosing to do more than satisfy desire is a brave step that holds with it a glimpse into a possible alternate reality. The first action is to live in the moment. 90% of the population in the United States has been conditioned to live in the future, the past or both. Neither of these have a foothold in reality. When we exclude the now, our senses are on auto pilot. Living a life that is fulfilling and free from anxiety is within our grasp when we choose to seek our truth. It can only be found here and now.

Perspective is Lost in the Beholders Eye

How can we judge each other when we cannot see the prejudice in our own beliefs? Albert Einstein is credited with the following statement, "Common sense is the collection of prejudices acquired by age eighteen."  His statement about common sense alludes to the dangers of a stagnant perspective. If we choose to rest in the field of common sense and judge others by our definition, we surely set our opinion above others and in doing so begin the stratification of classes. There have been many papers written on the virtue of right thinking but who is to be the judge? The sharing of perspectives without regard for ego brings about a change in awareness & frees us from the "common sense" of our youth. The next time you see what might be considered unconventional behavior, become an observer from outside of your surroundings. You may begin to see your sense is not so common after all.

Winner by De-Fault

Elections come and go but one thing remains the same, integrity and the political aspirant have nothing in common. Muckraking seems to be in season every two years and now that media technology has reached into the pocket, our encounters have become more frequent. How can there be anything positive from an election based on the desecration of the character of an opponent? How can this possibly benefit the constituency? If one vote is cast with the intention of selection between the lesser of two evils, then we have lost. Trust and integrity are ideals that are treasured but left in the dust by the ego of man. The words may be used, but the intention is lost. The entire outlook of humanity ebbs & flows with the positive or negative energy that it encounters. Some leaders have seen this as an advantage and chosen to lift the public with positive discourse, while others use the same in the negative fashion to promote fear and distort truth for personal gain. Our public officials are there to serve the public. I have never encountered a negative that has produced that result. When you vote today, please vote positive. Humanity thrives on it.

Good things come in no packages

What is the essence of desire? Is it a craving, obsession, or addiction or is it as simple as wanting something because it is not directly part of our lives? Buddhist's say that desire is the root of all suffering. This statement is accurate with respect to the things that we might call fulfilling. When the want becomes less personal & and more global, some flexibility seems to pervade outcome. But there can be no mistake personal desire does not bring lasting fulfillment when satisfaction is achieved.
Keep this in mind as your life unfolds. The brochure of desire will always be captivating but short on delivery.

Welcome to another wind bag blog that will whiten your teeth, make your hair grow again, and help you shed 50LBS. Oh, I also forgot that it will constantly offer all kinds of get rich quick ideas that really work!
Honestly, the search for your personal truth is often derailed by the acceptance of statements that are portrayed as fact. In childhood, we could only absorb what was taught. If the teaching was labeled as absolute then the truth must be so. As each one ages, the black and white of our perceptions may begin to gray if we allow ourselves to investigate the basis for our beliefs. How possible is a man on the moon before the Wright brothers took flight?
Feel free to believe.
